Southern Thailand Short-term Mission Trip (January 12–20, 2026)
From January 12 to 20, 2026, Rev. Titus Tam, Overseas Mission Director of CCMA, and his wife Winnie led four young people on a short-term mission trip to Surat Thani in Southern Thailand. During the trip, the team visited secondary schools, universities, and Daniel International School, sharing the Gospel with students along the way. They also worshiped together with Daniel Church and ICA Surat Thani Church, and joyfully served by helping to lead Children’s Sunday School.
Our new Chief Executive Director, Elder Rory Hong, was also there to show his support and encouragement.
Ignite Vietnam ~ The Call and Mission of the Gospel
Elder Rory Hong (Chairman, CCMA Board of Directors)
Vietnam — A land of 110 million people, filled with both opportunities and challenges, lies at the heart of the “10/40 Window” (the region of the world’s unreached peoples). It stands at a crucial moment for the spread of the Gospel. Although only 1.1% of the population is Christian, the seeds of the Gospel have begun to sprout, waiting for more workers to water and nurture them into full growth.
In 2005, the Vietnamese government issued a new religious decree*, opening more space for the expansion of Gospel work.
* The Vietnamese government’s “Decree on Religious Belief” officially recognizes Christianity (including Protestantism and Catholicism), protects religious freedom, and reduces administrative interference.
Gospel Light in Industrial Zones
The author, along with Pastor Dr. Samuel Dhanaraj (劉成發牧師) and his wife from CCM Singapore & Malaysia, visited the “Salt and Light Centre” in an industrial area of Hanoi. Eight young preachers from impoverished mountain regions gave up worldly job opportunities to serve faithfully. They spread the Gospel in five industrial zones with over 200,000 workers. Due to inconvenient transportation, believers find it difficult to attend church. These workers are in urgent need of training and financial support to strengthen the local faith community.
Revival Among the Hmong in the Mountains
Heading north to the mountainous areas at the northernmost tip of Vietnam, villagers hear the Gospel through radio broadcasts from Northern Thailand. One village chief turned to Christ and encouraged his villagers to follow Jesus. Now, the village church serves three communities, with over a hundred people gathering for each worship service. However, the church is currently led only by senior brothers and deacons who conduct Bible study and sharing. They are eager for deeper training to shepherd this spiritual harvest field.
Two-thirds of Vietnamese Christians come from ethnic minority groups, with the Hmong people particularly receptive to the Gospel. As the number of believers grows, leadership training has become a pressing need.
A Spark in Theological Education
In 2013, the Hanoi Theological Seminary was established, offering a four-year bachelor’s program. However, each student requires about USD 2,000 per year, with half of that amount dependent on external donations. Life for the seminary students is difficult—many must work part-time to survive, and some still cannot afford tuition, crying out to God for provision.
Hope for Children in the Slums
In the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, the pandemic and economic fluctuations caused many families to lose their income. Due to household registration issues, many children are unable to attend school. Local churches with limited resources provide classes in Vietnamese, math, and the Bible, as well as meals after class. Yet, over a hundred children are still waiting for help, longing not just for a meal, but for love and hope.
The Cry of the Stateless
In Tây Ninh Province, near the border with Cambodia, over 4,000 stateless Vietnamese have been forced to return and now live by the lake. Without nationality, they are denied access to healthcare and education. The Gospel light has not yet reached this place.
Though the Evangelical Church faithfully serves, limited resources allow them to provide only basic literacy classes and food for just over 100 youth each day. More than 300 youth still await help. Pray that the Gospel will transform their lives.
Let Us Turn Prayers into Action!
- Pray for God to send missionaries into Vietnam to proclaim the Gospel to the unreached.
- Pray for God to provide for the needs of local pastors and ministry workers.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will raise the Vietnamese church and ignite believers with a passion to witness for Christ.
The doors to the Gospel are wide open!

Brothers and sisters,
God’s peace be with you!
It has been several weeks since I once again set foot in Nouméa, the capital of the island country of New Caledonia. Once a beautiful land, it has turned into many areas of ruins and desolation after last year’s riots. Many major corporations and shops have become deserted. Those with means have already left, emigrating to their ideal countries. The businesses and livelihoods of ordinary citizens have plummeted, and the underprivileged are living in poverty.
We are thankful that despite the sharp rise in the cost of living, the brothers and sisters in the church continue to trust in the Lord amidst these hardships. Also, due to the limited bus services, I’ve no choice but to walk to visit people. Please pray for my leg pain.
Recently, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some seekers. Please pray that God would open their hearts so they may come to believe in Him soon. May the Lord help us, in our own stable countries, to remember those who are suffering—especially the people of Myanmar, who are lacking in daily needs and enduring hardship after the recent earthquake in the disaster-stricken areas. Let us, with hearts of gratitude, keep watch and intercede for them. May God hear our prayers!

2025
Short-Term Mission opportunities
Preliminary plan for STM in July 2025
- Northern Thailand – assisting local church ministries
- Southern Thailand – Children’s Summer Camp in Daniel International School
2025 Suva Children’s Summer Camp
Rev. Titus Tam (Overseas Missions Director) & 6 STM members organised this summer camp in Fiji.
Alonside with the helpers from local Chinese church, they served 15 teenagers & children. They learned together, ate together, played together & most importantly sharing God’s love together.
Below is the testimony of a youth, 1st time STM member sharing his reflection in this mission trip:
Testimony of Julian Fong
I feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to join this mission trip alongside my friend Charlie, my mum, my brother, Aunty Yin, Winnie, and Titus. From the moment we arrived in Suva, I witnessed God’s goodness in countless ways, and it has been a deeply enriching experience.
Initially, I struggled with shyness and hesitation when approaching the children due to the language barrier and my lack of confidence. I often felt like I needed constant help from others to communicate, which sometimes left me feeling inadequate. There were moments when I caught myself comparing my abilities to Charlie’s, and this self-doubt weighed heavily on my self-esteem. However, I continually reminded myself of God’s unwavering love and care, which gave me the strength to keep moving forward.
During the camp, there were times when I felt so frustrated with myself that I wanted to cry. But as the days went by, I began to see a silver lining: everyone has their weaknesses, and this was mine to overcome. In my lowest moments, I turned to God for strength, and He answered my prayers in beautiful ways. His love became evident to me through the children’s attitudes and personalities, which brought me immense joy and encouragement.
Each child had their own unique character: Queenie, strict yet kind-hearted; Christina, competitive but full of enthusiasm; Spring, intelligent and always eager to participate in class discussions; Jessica, who greeted everyone with a warm smile, showing her thoughtfulness and care; Hai Yang, the funny one who always seemed to be scolded by Queenie; Happy, talkative during lessons but deeply caring toward the younger children; Sally, who took initiative by asking questions and always gave her best effort; Emma, ever-helpful and ready to assist the teachers with tasks; Yi Hung, energetic and friendly, making him easy to connect with; and Shan Shan, soft-hearted and always willing to lend a hand.
Every day presented new opportunities to serve Jesus. Though I struggled with confidence, God continually gave me the courage to speak and reminded me of His constant presence and care. Truly, God is love! This summer camp also prompted me to reflect on how fortunate I am to have grown up in an urbanized area with access to resources and opportunities many of these children may not have. To process everything I was learning and feeling, I began writing in a diary each day. Documenting my thoughts and experiences became a source of comfort and helped me appreciate the personal growth and blessings that came from this trip.
Short-term mission to Southern and Northern Thailand (July 2024)
Pastor May Kwong (CCMA Missions Executive) led 11 team members to visit 10 churches in Northern Thailand also in the Golden Triangle. They witnessed pastors leading the church members to help the families in need. The church school accomodates many left-behind children. Everyone was deeply moved.
The short-term mission team also visited Surat Thani in Southern Thailand where the missionary couple built the “Daniel International School” which became a golden lampstand to illuminate this Buddhist country and open the door of gospel.

God’s grace in the STM to Northern Thailand
Pastor May Kwong (CCMA missionary)
From 2023 until April this year, I visited northern Thailand three times for mission trips. Besides supporting the local CCM (Chinese Christian Mission) missionaries, Pastor Liu Chengfa and his wife, I also gained a deeper understanding of CCM’s ministry in the area with each visit. Their gospel work targets various ethnic Asian groups, including Thais, the Hmong, and the Akha. Although Pastor Liu doesn’t speak the languages of these ethnic groups, he and his wife tirelessly visit mountain villages, connect with Chinese-speaking pastors, learn about the needs of these communities, and assist and partner with them in ministry.
There are many school-aged children in northern Thailand. They attend Thai schools during the day and, after school, go to Chinese schools run by churches to learn Chinese (Monday to Saturday). This is a strategy of the northern Thai churches for evangelism, as parents, wanting their children to learn Chinese, are willing to send them to church. The children not only learn Chinese but also come to know Jesus, God’s creation, and learn to sing hymns in Chinese. However, there is a severe shortage of Chinese teachers. Pastor Liu has taken on the role of bridging this gap, searching for Chinese teachers for them. His wife sometimes acts as substitute teacher. In response to this, a burdened sister volunteered herself, and with Pastor Liu’s coordination, she began using Zoom to teach Chinese to local teachers online so they can teach the children themselves, alleviating the teacher shortage. Thank God for using Pastor Liu and his wife to help local pastors establish multiple gospel outposts in the mountain villages of northern Thailand.
During this recent mission trip, I attended the graduation ceremony of Grace Chinese School, a Church school in the mountains. There are over 200 students, with nine graduates. They sang the Chinese hymn “On This Road We Walk Together” written by Xiao Min. Two graduates also gave thank-you speeches in a mix of Thai and Chinese. Seeing their language proficiency was truly impressive! I was invited to share a message of “Loving One Another, Because God Is Love,” which was translated from Chinese into Hmong. This village is a Hmong village, and all the parents attending the graduation ceremony were Hmong.
On Sunday, I joined the worship service at the local Church, where the primary language is Hmong, and the sermon in Chinese was translated into Hmong. That day, there was also a commissioning ceremony where prayers were offered for four newly graduated seminary students from Bethel Bible College. One graduate would continue his Master’s studies in Christian Studies in Bangkok; one would stay temporarily at local Church to assist the pastors before returning to serve in Laos; one would pioneer gospel work in a Hmong village which was not evangelised; and one would assist in pioneering work and return to his home village to support the local church. They all need financial support and I am thankful that God’s provision is sufficient, and His grace is enough.
One day, Pastor Yan (晏發嵩) took us to a Hmong village (輝鬥村) where they plan to pioneer a ministry. This village has over 100 households and more than 200 school-aged children. We first greeted the village chief (a necessary step for entering the village), then met with a landlord to discuss renting his newly built house as a meeting place under the pretext of providing education. The deal was finalized, and the gospel ministry will begin there. At that moment, I had a vivid picture in my mind of when we rented a house to start a new ministry point in Santo, Vanuatu. I am thankful to witness the start of gospel work in this Hmong Village during this trip—an unexpected blessing.
Prayer points:
- Thank God for the opportunities to participate in the ministries of northern Thailand and witnessing God’s grace. Pray for the salvation of these “unreached people”.
- Pray for CCMA’s involvement in Thai ministries. May there be fruitful partnerships to help expand the ministry in mountain villages.
- Pray for the planning and preparations for the Thailand mission trip in July 2025. We need God’s guidance & providence.
